Dealing with egoistic friends

Each time I read Srimad Bhagavatam, I am impressed with how much it can teach even an atheist, what to speak of a "seeker". I marvel at the intelligence of the man who wrote this five thousand years ago.

It is an empire is speaking to you, with love, to give you peace. The empire loves each of its citizen and it delivers teachings to calm the hankering of each its citizen.  The empire speaks to us, nothing small or unworthy, but large, serene, consistent, the voice of an old intelligence which in another age and climate has pondered and thus disposed of the same questions which excercise us. In comparison with which our modern world and its literature seem puny and trivial.

The person who wrote Srimad Bhagavatam must be among the smartest of all people ever.

SB 4.3.17: Although the six qualities education, austerity, wealth, beauty, youth and heritage are for the highly elevated, one who is proud of possessing them becomes blind, and thus he loses his good sense and cannot appreciate the glories of great personalities.

SB 4.3.18: One should not go to anyone's house, even on the consideration of his being a relative or a friend, when the man is disturbed in his mind and looks upon the guest with raised eyebrows and angry eyes.

SB 4.3.19: Lord Siva continued: If one is hurt by the arrows of an enemy, one is not as aggrieved as when cut by the unkind words of a relative, for such grief continues to rend one's heart day and night.

SB 3.27.8: For his income a devotee should be satisfied with what he earns without great difficulty. He should not eat more than what is necessary. He should live in a secluded place and always be thoughtful, peaceful, friendly, compassionate and self-realized.

The Empire actually gives practically steps to have a peaceful society.
